“I have been fortunate enough to be able to send both my children to Broomhall Under 3s and can honestly say their development has been outstanding. I was fairly naïve when I started looking at childcare places and assumed it was just ‘childcare’. I had no idea that from day one when my children started at nursery at the age of 9 months old that they would be observed and individual planning would contribute to their learning and development. I was nervous about leaving my sons at nursery and returning to work but from the moment I met the staff I instantly felt at ease which meant the transition was seamless. I love how I am able to access my child’s profile at anytime and talk to the staff about my son’s development and ask for advice. The setting is very homely and I can honestly say that the staff feel like part of our family”
“My oldest daughter had a wonderful experience at Broomhall Nursery. So on hearing the news the council planned to close the under 3s provison of Broomhall Nursery, I buried my head in the sand. I couldn't conceive the fact that my second child would have to go to a different nursery! A few months later I returned home from the hospital after giving birth to my third child, only to find a letter from a fellow Broomhall mum. She invited me to attend a meeting to get like minds together in an attempt to somehow save the under 3s provision from closure . I felt compelled to attend. During the first year of my son's life, with him in tow, I attended regular meetings along with other parents and staff. We worked our way through a number of challenges and I became a director somewhere along the way, until we finally opened as Broomhall Under 3s. It is one of the most worthwhile things I have ever done because I know my children have received the best care and start to their education; also so many other families will benefit from the same privilege. I am truly humbled by the staff at Broomhall under 3s and I couldn't be any prouder to be involved in such a unique place.”
“I cannot recommend Broomhall Under 3's enough! The whole team are professional, supportive & experienced and it shows. My son settled quickly and thrived under their care. I was particularly keen on their 'all weather' attitude, loved that the kids played outside and couldn't wait to see what he'd created each day. They understand the needs of children and encourage them to learn through play. When it became apparent that J had problems with his hearing and speech, the whole team, in particular Jill, Theresa & Tracey, were absolutely fantastic. We received invaluable emotional & practical support which was above and beyond the call of duty. I cannot wait for my second child to join them in September and will continue to sing their praises for many, many years to come. We couldn't have asked for a better start for our children.”
"We visited numerous nurseries before Broomhall Under 3’s, Broomhall stood out. We walked into a room where children were fully engaged with staff; staff were on the floor playing with children, another child was being cuddled to sleep another child was sitting listening to stories. All the staff interacted with us and were interested in us and our child. The staff are knowledgeable, compassionate and skilled and spent as long making sure I was OK as they did settling our daughter into nursery!
When we had our second child, there was no question of which nursery he would attend. I recognised the stability of the staff, their dedication and enjoyment of their work. The organisation and planning that goes into ensuring the children are given a range of opportunities to learn new skills and thrive, develop physically, psychologically and socially is amazing. There is good communication with parents, great outdoor space and I know that the children are in very safe hands."
"When I was looking for a nursery for my daughter I didn't want her to go to a nursery; I didn't want her to leave her and I didn't want her to be looked after by other people. But when I looked round Broomhall I was reassured: yes the building and grounds are extensive, yes the Ofsted reports were 'Outstanding', yes outside play is a huge part of the day but what really mattered was the staff. I trusted them. I trusted them to look after the most important little person in my life. When she started they stimulated her, they catered for her individual play preferences and planning was adapted to take this into account, they nurtured her, they stimulated her they engaged her and she loved it.
I wanted to hate nursery, I wanted to hate it so much I would be forced to leave work. But I couldn't. I could leave her in the knowledge she would have a fantastic day in the best possible care and surroundings and I could go to work and fully focus on my day and enjoy that too.
When I was pregnant with my son I ensured I had his name on the long waiting list as soon as I had my first scan - there was no way he wasn't going to get them same excellent start in life as his sister! It was at this time the nursery was threatened with closure but thank goodness we still have this excellent resource and we didn't lose the excellent staff that make the nursery what it is.
I cannot rate this nursery highly enough."
